I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how our culture defines success. And, how there is often this “good things come to those who wait” mentality. But I think the truth is, good things come to those who put themselves out there and who risk being told “no.” We have to be willing to accept a whole lot of “no” along our paths, in order to finally make it to that glorious “yes.”
As I look at my life and reflect on my own successes I realize none of those things were just handed to me. I had to work my butt off. I had to take risks. I had to accept a whole lot of rejection, which sucks. Rejection hurts. My stomach still sinks every single time someone closes the door on me, in the form of a “no.” But, I keep going and keep reminding myself that those doors just weren’t meant for me. The right doors will open, the right people will say “yes”, as long as I keep doing my part, as long as I keep growing and putting myself out there.
For me, that’s what success looks like. So, if you’re currently in the midst of a bunch of “no”, keep going, you might be closer to your “yes” than you know.
Its so true. We will never attain those things we dont risk to try.
